Mike Tress was not a scholar; he was a clean-shaven American man who fought mightily for the Torah and its values. He set up youth groups in order to keep the boys and girls connected to Yiddishkeit, and drew them in with his warmth and sincerity. These adolescents became activists in their own right, helping to strengthen the observance of the Torah. Mr. Tress was extremely influenced by Rav Elchonon Wasserman's visit to America and his message of a Torah true-lifestyle. He was charged with a mission from Rav Elchonon: whatever will be with America lies on your shoulders-and he took his mission seriously, continuing his work with more fervor, all for the sake of Torah. |
