In the second part of this four part series, we discuss another aspect of brachos, in addition to the yiras shamayim that is engendered. When we stop to thank Hashem before we make a bracha on a pleasure that we enjoy, we acknowledge that He makes these things for us in order for life to be pleasurable. This world is not just filled with our basic needs; rather, Hashem has created so many things for our enjoyment. When we concentrate on these brachos for foods, sights, and smells, we increase our ahavas Hashem as we recognize His love and care for us. |
