The patterns established in Sefer Bereishis unfold throughout history. The story of Yetzias Mitzrayim and Krias Yam Suf relates to Avraham's bris milah and bris (covenant) of chessed (kindness). The bris milah affects a change in the physical body of a person, enabling him to have a more direct relationship with Hashem. This transformation that Avraham experienced is the same one that Bnei Yisroel experience after the miracles of Krias Yam Suf, when they perceived in a profound way. Avraham's bris of chessed is related to this as well-the less a person's physical self takes over, the more room there can be for giving to another.
