The Kohen Gadol (high priest) wearing his Bigdei Kehunah (holy garments) was the image representing Hashem and the way of bringing Hashem into the Jewish people. Hashem resides in the person who has worked on himself and built himself up to be Kadosh (holy) through Torah. We see from the Purim story what it really means to be wearing Malchus, royalty. Megillas Esther was a time of Ruach HaKodesh (divine inspiration) and not nevua (prophecy) thus enabling the re-acceptance of the Torah from love, internally. The external Mishkan (temple) and the holy garments of the Kohen might be gone but the internal Torah and our relationship with Hashem will remain with us forever. |
