Project Genesis
16 - Vayakhel - Individuality
Speaker:   Hauer, Rabbi Moshe
Series: Women's Institute of Torah Parsha Shiur, 5771
Lecture Details:  Parshas Vayakhel describes the actual building of the mishkan, after Moshe received the instructions as explained in Parshiyos Terumah and Tetzaveh. Not only did Moshe accept donations of goods for the mishkan, he also asked for volunteers to do the actual labor. Although Bnei Yisroel had been in Mitzrayim and were not able to cultivate their skills and talents, they knew in their hearts what they were able to do, and volunteered their skills. Each person has specific talents and abilities that they are naturally gifted with. Many times, people experience anguish and stress because they are trying to be someone who they are not. When educating children, and when trying to grow and accomplish ourselves, we should recognize this fundamental reality and access our individual abilities and strengths.
