Vayakhel - 5th Aliyah - Betzalel's Role in Building the Aron and the Mishkan
Speaker:   Hauer, Rabbi Moshe
Series: Weekly Parsha Shiur, 5774 - Parsha Plan
Lecture Details:  Betzalel, the son of Uri and the grandson of Chur, was chosen to be in charge of the building of the Mishkan (temple) and the vessels inside. This was a reward for Chur who had given up his life and opposed the building of the golden calf in order to try to keep the direct access to Hashem. But when the Jewish people lost this ability as a result of the sin, it was his grandson Betzalel's job to preserve the sacred distance that was now necessary and make sure they only came close to Hashem when they are on a high level and through the right preparation so they will not be destroyed.
