What qualities do we envision our leaders should possess? Exemplary character, integrity, confident, an effective communicator, teaches by example, inspires others to reach their potential ... and the list goes on.
But what qualities did Hashem seek out in those who would be the leaders of His children?
The model of leadership in Judaism was not the individual who would subjugate, rather it was the individual who would be compassionate to sacrifice for others!
The common denominator of the Jewish leaders chosen by Hashem (Moshe, Kings Shaul & King David) was that they were all compassionate shepherds!
