The Torah requires us to remember with great passion the evil of the nation of Amalek, attacking our forefathers as they left Egypt.
We are to arouse such a heightened level of animosity until we are so filled with hatred towards Amalek to take up arms and destroy them!
But wait! Are not "the ways of Torah pleasant and all her paths are peaceful"?
Did Hashem not gift the defining predisposition of a Jew to be merciful, bashful and doer of good deeds and yet He commands us to destroy and eradicate?!
Finally in our time when we are Halachikally not permitted to kill an Amaleiki how are we to fulfill this Mitzvah today?
