Project Genesis
Shemos - Renewal of Responsibility
Speaker:   Hauer, Rabbi Moshe
Series: Weekly Parsha Shiur, 5769
Lecture Details:  Sefer Shemos is also known as Sefer Geulah, the Book of Redemption. This follows Sefer Bereishis, called Sefer Yetzirah- the book of Genesis, creation. Everything that happens is developing the patterns and formation of what will happen in the future. The first golus(exile) in Bereishis is Kayin's punishment for killing his brother Hevel and asking, "Am I my brother's keeper?" This lack of brotherhood is the same trait that characterizes the golus in Mitzrayim, beginning with the shevatim (tribes) selling their brother Yosef. Moshe, the redeemer of the Jewish people, is the messenger for redemption because of his care and concern for the Jewish people. When we are internally connected and concerned for our brothers and sisters, that will lead to the external manifestation of geulah (redemption).
