The Torah of Rav Moshe Shapira on Chanukah - The Concept of Ner Mitzvah
Speaker:   Hauer, Rabbi Moshe
Series: Chanukah
Lecture Details:  We explore different concepts relating to Chanukah as explained by Rav Moshe Schapira. Chanukah symbolizes the ner mitzvah-the candle of a mitzvah, as opposed to the light of Torah. Through the hidden nature of the miracle, we can discern Hashem, as Rav Moshe explained through many gematrias found in the gemara relating to Chanukah. The miracle of Chanukah is not recorded, as it is already in a time when Hashem acts with the world in a more hidden, silent manner. It is our job to discern Hashem through His actions, so on Chanukah, we respond with the action of the new mitzvah of ner Chanukah.
