Thank You Hashem for the Suffering?! (Sefer Vayikra)
Speaker:   Alter, Rabbi Avrohom M.
Series: Hashkafah -Thought
Lecture Details:  Why would someone make a kiddush, expressing thanks to Hashem for His granting healing, after suffering a life threatening illness? Imagine someone caused physical damage to your home or car (or worse your body!) and when you complained he said "ok, I'll fix it" and he does. Would you be proffering him your deep heartfelt thanks or bestowing accolades upon him for his kindness? Of course not - as he is the one who burdened you will the suffering in the first place! Knowing as we do that although Hakadosh Baruch Hu is the source of all healing, but just as much, He is also the very same source of the original illness, pain and suffering - in all situations without exception! Doesn't it therefore stand to reason that even if a person accepts the hurt, pain and suffering of an illness, without compliant, - never the less no rational thinking person would be moved to thank their healing benefactor, when all he did is remove the bad that he hoisted upon them in the first place! And yet... we do!
