In the 7th aliyah of Parshas Noach, the story of the dor haflagah and the tower that they built is discussed. This event leads to the division of the world into 70 nations, speaking 70 different languages. The people wanted to settle in one place, and did not appreciate the vast world that Hashem created to be populated and settled. Although their strength came from their unity, Hashem wanted them to appreciate and use diversity in its proper way. Within Klal Yisroel, we have elements of diversity that should be celebrated, as long as it all ends up coming together in appreciating everything that Hashem gave us. |
