In the Pachad Yitzchok's third essay on Chanukah, he discusses the unique quality of Chanukah as the last Yom Tov (holiday) established, and the bridge to acharis hayamim (the end of days). During this exile, the Yevonim wanted to make us forget the Torah. This is when there was the first machlokes (argument) among Torah Sages. Although this seems terrible, this lack of clarity actually makes room for an explosion of Torah learning and building. It is this power of building the Torah through the darkness generated by the Yevonim that will bring us through this final Golus (exile). |
