Rabbi Dr. Yehuda Moradian, Dr. Ron Samet,Rabbi Mordechai Schuchatowitz
Medical decision making can be quite challenging especially when there are real or perceived differences between secular law and Halacha. This 2.5 hour case-based seminar aims to elucidate many dilemmas that arise with end-of-life care and life-threatening scenarios. Many topics ranging from the Torah versus secular approach to quality/value of life, distinctions in Chayei Sha'ah and Chayei Olam, Do Not Resuscitate orders, hospice care, and patient advocacy for the Halacha-observant patient will be discussed with ample time for questions and answers. The teaching points in the session will be particularly valuable for family members, Rabbis, patient advocates, chaplains, social workers, and anyone who may be involved in helping a patient or family make difficult medical decisions. |
