In this shiur we look at the beginning of the story. What is the significance of Dovid's investigating who Bas-Sheva's family was? Why is important to know that Bas-Sheva was, 'purified from impurity (of Nida)'? Why was Uriah called, 'the Chitti'? Was Uriah born Jewish, or did he convert? Why did Dovid bring Uriah back from the battle? When was Uriah considered, 'rebelling' against Dovid? Does a King have to bring someone who rebels against to court in order to kill them? Or can a King kill a rebel without judicial procedure? |
