Lecture Details: |
The eighth day of Chanukah is called Zos Chanukah, named after what we read in the Torah "zos chanukas hamizbeach", concluding the Torah reading from the previous days about the offerings of dedication that the nesi'im brought. There is a special quality of the eight that is above normal nature, which is contained in cycles of seven. The nesi'im each brought the same korban; however, each had a unique internal quality because of the person who brought it. The Greeks only saw that which was external, and did not care for what is found inside. On Chanukah, we go beyond the regular cycle of seven, going deeper, renewing our connection to the internal. |
