We begin a series about the imahos (matriarchs) with a discussion of the first woman, Chava. When she was originally created from Adam's rib, he named her Ishah, focusing on her role as a partner to Adam. However, after the original sin and subsequent punishment, Adam called her Chava, focusing on her position as a mother. which became an expanded role. There is much to discuss about each of these individual roles of woman, and her independent role as an individual. |
