Project Genesis
12 - Beshalach - Shira, Geulah, & Tefillah
Speaker:   Hauer, Rabbi Moshe
Series: Women's Institute of Torah Parsha Shiur, 5770
Lecture Details:  Often we are driven to daven to Hashem for our physical needs, such as health, parnassah, and success. The shira of the Jewish People after crossing the Yam Suf teaches us that the first step of a tefillah is recognizing to Whom you are praying. Before crossing the Yam Suf, it seems that Hashem is cutting short their tefillah, their cry for help. After experiencing this incredible miracle, the Jewish People recognize Hashem as their G-d, the One Who has redeemed them from the terrible slavery in Mitzrayim, and are able to daven to Him from that state instead.
