There are three components of Exile: dispersion, subordination and dislocation. The Yovel (jubilee year) and tochacha (rebuke) are essentially both about returning to the original way of life, geographically and spiritually. The land needs its inhabitants to reach its full potential, and vice versa, the inhabitants need the land to reach their full potential. Yovel is about bringing the land back to its rightful owner, back to the original way. The tochacha reminds us of the connection and relationship the people have to the land. |
