In honor of this weeks Torah portion V'eschanan and 15 Av
We read this week Devarim (4:7) "For what great nation is there, that has G-d so close to them, as Hashem our G-d is (to us), whensoever we call upon Him?"
Are we unique in that way? Can non-Jews not pray too? Are their prayers unacceptable to Him? Does Hashem not proclaim (Isaiah 56:7) "Even them (non-Jews) will I bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer; their burnt-offerings and their sacrifices shall be acceptable upon Mine altar; for My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples." Clearly we are not unique!
If in fact we are special, visa vie our Tefilos being assured acceptance by Hashem, what indeed is the method or secret by which we are able to achieve such a great guarantee?
The secret is... that it's not a secret! Shlomo Hamelech in his great wisdom (and love for his people!) revealed the means of this guaranteed modus operandi that insures Hakadosh Baruch Hu will be attentive to our supplications!
