When Baruch was a young boy he was so mischievous that he was expelled from Cheder for the outrageous prank of hiding a sheep in the Shul's Aron HaKodesh! He was clearly beyond all possible rehabilitation... or was he?
How did our ancestors leaving Mitzrayim ascend from the nadir of spiritual deficiency (holey souls) - to the highest state of spiritual preparedness (wholly holy souls!) capable of receiving Hashem's Torah at Sinai in an awe-inspiring state of transcendent Kedusha?!
How could the Al-Mighty demand of us "Kedoshim T'hiyu - ki kadosh ani" - "You shall be holy because I, Hashem your G-d, am holy"? He is after all G-d, The Omnipotent, The Omniscient, The Al-Mighty! How could His Holiness be the rational for demanding our holiness when we are merely His creations?! |
