Lecture Details: |
Rosh HaShana - we stand in judgment before the Al-Mighty, supplicating the King of Kings - The Judge of Judges for a good year.
We entreat Him to judge us, not in accordance to our deficiencies, but rather to consider our person as we are now, standing before Him full of regret and contrition - promising to be better from here on forward.
But how or why does this work? Imagine standing in a secular court of law - "your honor it's true, I did rob that bank, and I spent all the money, so I cannot make restitution, but I am sincerely sorry and promise to never do it again."
Not going to help too much - will it?
