In Parshas Bamidbar, Hashem counts Bnei Yisroel after He rests His presence among them. Hashem's presence comes down to Bnei Yisroel specifically when they are a multitude of people. Yerushalayim is the main point of Hashem's presence, and we daven toward it from anywhere we may be in the world. It is in Yerushalayim where we gather, the masses of Bnei Yisroel come together, to be oleh regel. This clearly demonstrates Bnei Yisroel's belief in Hashem and knowledge that He takes care of each one of us, just as did among the multitudes in the midbar. |
