In this portion we see the merging of two stories: the difficult story of the sale of Yosef, and G-d’s prophecy to Avraham at “Brit Bein Habetarim.” It explores how G-d’s involvement in the selling of Yosef, set the stage for G-d to carry out the promises made to Avraham regarding the future of the Jewish people.
