This class examines the verses in this week’s portion that describe the ten plagues, the Exodus from Egypt, and the commandments of Pesach night, as means through which G-d prepared the Jewish people for their new role as the “Nation of G-d” and as a light unto the nations of the world. It also explores the Exodus from Egypt as more than just gaining physical freedom, but rather as the creation of a nation that is free in essence. The class is based on the teachings of the Meshech Chochma, Rav Simcha Meir HaCohen of Dvinsk.
