Lecture Details: |
When Hashem comes to tell Noach to build a teivah, at one point He introduces Himself with the name Elokim, and at a later point, with the name Hashem. The name Elokim signifies the attribute of strict judgement, which is employed while destroying the world through the mabul. The name Hashem shows the attribute of mercy, exercised when Noach is saved with the teivah. We explore the deeper meanings of the usage of these names of Hashem, and explain how the name Hashem--and its associated attribute of mercy--are used when referring to korbanos, which help to renew the world after the mabul.
