In the third aliyah of Parshas Mikeitz, Yosef rises to power in Mitzrayim, as he is placed in charge of storing up food for the years of famine. Mitzrayim's willingness to accept Yosef's ruler ship over their economy is very unusual. Yosef also marries and settles into Mitzrayim. The elements of interest in commerce and marriage are also present when Shechem wants to marry Dina. However, in that relationship, she was violated, whereas Yosef remained pure. In our times, we must work to maintain purity through these two powerful factors of money and attraction. |
