The last verse in Sefer Shemos, the Book of Exodus, describes how the cloud of the presence of Hashem guided the Jewish nation on all of their travels. When going into exile, one is traveling away from the presence of Hashem. Geula, redemption, is not only being in the presence of Hashem but also pursuing Hashem. Redemption is when the focal point of a person's attitude and choices is in the direction of seeking the presence of Hashem. |
