We learn the Torah of Rav Moshe Shapira about Asarah B'Teves, which is right after his death. On the Tenth of Teves, we mourn three different events: the translation of the Torah into Greece, the death of Ezra Hasofer, and the siege around Yerushalayim. Each of these impose limitations on three different things: the Torah, the Jewish people, and Hashem. The Torah is so broad and vast that it cannot possibly be contained and limited, and certainly cannot be properly conveyed in a translated form. Rav Moshe Shapira was a brilliant Torah scholar who knew a tremendous amount of Torah, but was always seeking to learn more from its endless depths, and pass it on to others. |
